This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 inch Tablet (16GB, WLAN, 3G, GPS, Android 3.2) - Light Silver (Personal Computers) I Originally had the Galaxy 10.1 tab and subsequently sold it on as i thought it was too long looking and the apps in my opinion werent really optimised for it to enjoy happy useage.On the release of this 7.7 version i decided to take another chance. The unit is beautiful and compact, the quality of the build is supreme and a far cry from the original 7" Galaxy tab. The super amoled screen is awesome although not totally natural looking, its bright and very colourful. I have watched films via Netflix and the experience is awesome. My only gripe is i still find there is an issue with many apps and the optimisation/customisation for the screen. On many apps i find it difficult to read anything as the text is extremely small and not easy to read. The tab allows certain apps to be zoomed in on and enlarged but in my opinion it looks worse becuse everything is too enlarged and unnatural looking with no smoothness to it. I was a little disappointed to say the least with this issue considering the price. Im hoping that an ice cream update will remedy this. Having said that, the internet experience is great as well as the portability aspect and the positives outweigh the negatives by far! I purchased a leather stilgut case for added protection along with a screen protector. Long battery life and good screen, By This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 inch Tablet (16GB, WLAN, 3G, GPS, Android 3.2) - Light Silver (Personal Computers) I was using a Samsung Galaxy SII when I was travelling, which was fine, but the battery might be dead in 10 hours. I was also reading ebooks a lot and so I decided I needed something larger with better battery life.I've been the 7.7 for 6 months now and it is excellent. The battery will last for 24 to 48 hours depending on usage, certainly I've never come close to being stuck on the road with a dead phone, and the display is very clear for ebooks, movies and web browsing. I've upgraded mine to android 4, which is faster and smoother than the 3.2 that it comes with. The only drawback is that 4.1 is not going to arrive. Not that this makes the tablet any less useable as it is. I've also rooted it and removed all of the unwanted apps, but you can always hide these on the apps screen if you want to keep the software standard or are not technical. The speed and the screen mean that is is possible to use this with Citrix Receiver to run desktop apps from my company's server and I can do a reasonable amount of work when travelling without resorting to a laptop. For calls I use a Bluetooth headset to avoid looking like Dom Joly... Pros: Good screen Excellent battery life Fast and smooth for apps Plenty of storage Cons: Embarrassingly large for phone calls No 4.1 upgrade Expensive |
